Somerset Art Weeks are upon us again and this year is celebrating 25 years since its inception. I first took part over 20 years ago when my children were young. It has been a very important part of my artistic pathway, bringing me into contact with so many wonderful people, from art/countryside lovers to gallery owners, all of whom have given me great support and encouragement. The event itself is a super opportunity to discover the hidden talent of Somerset as well as exploring areas of the county hitherto unknown.
As an artist, putting on an exhibition or opening your studio is a great chance to really engage with visitors and allows for contact that you miss out on if only showing through galleries.
This year, I’m delighted to be exhibiting with the following artists:
Melanie Deegan – Energetic and fragmented sculptures in metal and mixed media.
Hannah Willow – Folklore and animals of the ancient landscape, in silver and paint.
Lisz Biesty - Hand printing applied on paper, fabric and jewellery
Sarah Truscott – Hand-woven scarves, rugs and wall-hangings using natural fibres.
Tamsin Abbott – Illustrated stained glass depicting magical rural scenes.
